SOUTH ANDROS ISLAND

The Bahamas lie like a bed of jewels scattered over the turquoise waters of the Atlantic.

The Bahamas, an archipelago of 700 islands & cays that stretch more than 500 miles, approximately 55 miles east of the Florida coast. The most popular destinations are Freeport, the nation's capital, on Grand Bahamas Island and Nassau, on New Providence Island. About 30 other islands are inhabited and known as the "family islands". The best known family islands are the Abacos, the Biminis, Cat Island, the Exumas, Eleuthera and Andros, the largest and least explored of the Bahamas. see map

Andros Island lies thirty miles west of Nassau & 175 miles east of Miami. Andros is over 100 miles long and 40 miles wide. It is home to over 8000 Bahamians.

The shallow flats of Andros contribute to the island's world famous BONEFISHING reputation. Of course , deeper waters offer bigger game such as GROUPER and TARPON. And the numerous creeks are full of snapper.

Just off shore rests the second largest barrier reef system in the Western Hemisphere. The multitude of reefs brings you colorful marine life and coral of almost every species for divers and snorkelers. The island is also known for it's mysterious blue holes - a fresh water spring that surfaces on the ocean floor.

On shore, you will find natural wonders
thanks to the many desolate beaches and
uninhabited land.
Shelling, swimming and
picnicking on sandbars & beaches occupied
by you alone.

Two waterways divide Andros Island into North, Central and South Andros. South Andros offers the ultimate island getaway, it's seclusion and untouched beauty, make it a great place to to enjoy the beauty of the tropics. A wonderful place to rest, relax, recharge!
